Al-Kāfi

1ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عِمْرَانَ الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ مُسْكَانَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) وَعِنْدَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأنْصَارِ فَمَرَّتْ بِهِ جَنَازَةٌ فَقَامَ الأنْصَارِيُّ وَلَمْ يَقُمْ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فَقَعَدْتُ مَعَهُ وَلَمْ يَزَلِ الأنْصَارِيُّ قَائِماً حَتَّى مَضَوْا بِهَا ثُمَّ جَلَسَ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) مَا أَقَامَكَ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ الْحُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ (عَلَيْهِما الْسَّلام) يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) وَالله مَا فَعَلَهُ الْحُسَيْنُ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) وَلاَ قَامَ لَهَا أَحَدٌ مِنَّا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ قَطُّ فَقَالَ الأنْصَارِيُّ شَكَّكْتَنِي أَصْلَحَكَ الله قَدْ كُنْتُ أَظُنُّ أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ.

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from al-Nadr ibn al-Suwayd from Yahya ibn ‘Imran al-Halabiy from ‘Abd Allah ibn Muskan from Zurarah who has said the following: “Once I was with of abu Ja‘far (a.s.), when a man from Ansar was also there. A funeral procession passed by and the Ansariy man stood up; but abu Ja’far (a.s.), did not do so, and I remained sitting with him. The Ansariy remained standing until the procession passed by and then he sat down. The Imam asked, ’What made you stand up?’ He replied, ‘I saw al-Husayn ibn Ali do as I did.’ Abu Ja’far (a.s.), said, ’By Allah, al-Husayn did not do so and no one from us (Ahl al-Bayt) has ever done so.’ The Ansariy then said, ‘What you just said has placed me in doubt. I thought I had seen him (al-Husayn) doing so.’”

2ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجْرَانَ عَنْ مُثَنًّى الْحَنَّاطِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ كَانَ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ (عَلَيْهِما الْسَّلام) جَالِساً فَمَرَّتْ عَلَيْهِ جَنَازَةٌ فَقَامَ النَّاسُ حِينَ طَلَعَتِ الْجَنَازَةُ فَقَالَ الْحُسَيْنُ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) مَرَّتْ جَنَازَةُ يَهُودِيٍّ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ الله (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) عَلَى طَرِيقِهَا جَالِساً فَكَرِهَ أَنْ تَعْلُوَ رَأْسَهُ جَنَازَةُ يَهُودِيٍّ فَقَامَ لِذَلِكَ.

2. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from ibn abu Najran from Muthanna al-Hannat who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that Ali ibn Al-Husayn (a.s.), was sitting when (people with) the dead body passed by. People stood up when the dead body appeared. Ali ibn Al-Husayn (a.s.), said, ‘Once, (people with) the dead body of a Jewish person passed by; the Messenger of Allah was sitting on (the side of) way. He did not like the dead body of Jewish person higher over his head and to avoid this he stood up.”
