Aḥmad b. Idrīs and Muḥammad b. Yaḥyā together, from Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Jabbār, from Ibn Abī Najrān, from al-Ḥusayn b. al-Mukhtār, from al-Walīd b. Ṣubayḥ, who narrated: “A man came to me, saying: “Come, for I will show you the son of the man.” So, I went with him, and we came upon a group of people drinking (alcohol), and among them was Ismāʿīl b. Jaʿfar. I left despondent and proceeded to the (Black) Stone, whereupon Ismāʿīl b. Jaʿfar was clinging to the House while weeping, and he had soaked the curtains of the Kaaba with his tears. I returned, and while I was leaning against something, Ismāʿīl was sitting with the group. I returned again (to the Sacred Mosque) and he was gripping the curtains of the Kaaba, and he had soaked them with his tears. I mentioned (all) that (I had witnessed) to Abī ʿAbd Allāh (as), who stated: “My son was afflicted by a devil who has assumed his form.”[1]
