Hadith 1

ʿAbd Allāh b. Jaʿfar al-Ḥimyarī said: “Aḥmad b. Isḥāq narrated to us, saying: “I entered upon our master, Abī Muḥammad al-Ḥasan b. ʿAlī al-ʿAskarī (as), whereupon he said: “O’ Aḥmad, what was your condition amid the doubt and uncertainty in which the people found themselves?” I said: “O’ my master! When the letter arrived, there remained no man, woman or boy, mature and comprehending, among us except that they accepted the truth.” The Imam replied: “Praise Allāh for that. O’ Aḥmad, did you all not know that the Earth is never devoid of a Divine authority? I am that Divine authority.” Imam al-ʿAskarī (saa) may have instead said: “I am the Divine authority.”

Hadith 2

Saʿd b. ʿAbd Allāh said: “Those who were present when al-Ḥasan b. ʿAlī b. Muḥammad al-ʿAskarī (as-p) died, and participated in his burial, narrated to us—so many that their number could not be determined, nor is it feasible for that many to have colluded upon a lie.”[1]
