رَوَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ اَلْحَسَنِ اَلصَّفَّارُ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ رَيَّانَ قَالَ: كَتَبْتُ إِلَيْهِ يَعْنِي عَلِيَّ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ أَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ إِنْسَانٍ أَوْصَى بِوَصِيَّةٍ فَلَمْ يَحْفَظِ اَلْوَصِيُّ إِلاَّ بَاباً وَاحِداً مِنْهَا كَيْفَ يَصْنَعُ فِي اَلْبَاقِي فَوَقَّعَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ "اَلْأَبْوَابَ اَلْبَاقِيَةَ اِجْعَلْهَا فِي اَلْبِرِّ".
Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan Al-Saffar, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى be pleased with him, narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn Rayyan, who said: I wrote to Imam عليه السلام - meaning Imam Ali ibn Muhammad Al-Hadi عليه السلام - asking about a person who had made a will, but the executor only remembered one part of it. What should be done with the remaining parts? Imam عليه السلام replied: "Allocate the remaining parts to charitable acts."
