The Case of One Who Hunts Several Times in the State of al-’Ihram

2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hammad from af-Halabiy who has said the following: “This is about a man who in the state of Ihram hunts a bird. Abu ‘Abd Allah عليه السلام, has said, ‘He owes expiation.’ I then asked, ‘What happens if he kills another one?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘If he kills another one there is no expiation but he is of those about whom Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, has said, “Those who repeat transgression, Allah retaliates against them.” (5:96)’”

3. Ibn abu ‘Umayr has narrated from certain persons of his people who have said the following: “If one hunts by mistake, he always owes expiation for whatever he becomes involved with. However, if one kills intentionally, he owes expiation only once; and this is to which reference is made by the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘Those who repeat transgression, Allah retaliates against them.’ (5:96)”
