Zuhd of the Holy Prophet,Sallallahu ʿAlayhi waalihi and his Humility

101. A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Abu Nasr, from Hammaad Bin Usman from Ali Bin Mugheira who said: I heard Abu Abdullah عليه الصلاة والسلام saying that: ‘Jibraeel عليه السلام came to the Rasool صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم Allah عز وجل giving the option and indicating to him صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم for the humbleness and was advising him صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم. The Rasool صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم Allah عز وجل used to eat like the eating of the slave, and sit like the sitting of the slave being humble to Allah عز وجل. Then he صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم was given (by Jibraeel) at the time of his صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم death, the Keys of the treasures of the world. So he (Jibraeel) said: ‘These are the Keys of the treasures of the world which your صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم Lord عز وجل has Sent to you صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم so that there will be for you all that is carried by the earth without any reduction of anything’. The Rasool صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم Allah عز وجل said: ‘I صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم (want to be) among the friends of the Most High عز وجل’.
