Excellence of Bismi Allah (in the name of Allah)

387. Ahmad Bin Muhammad Al-Kufy, from Ali Bin Al-Hassan Bin Ali, from Abdul Rahmaan Bin Abu Najraan, from Haroun, who has said the following: Abu Abdullah عليه الصلاة والسلام having said to me: ‘They have concealed ‘بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ’ ‘In the Name of Allah عز وجل the Beneficent, the Merciful’. So, by Allah عز وجل, they have concealed the Best Name. The Rasool Allah صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, when he عليه الصلاة والسلام used to enter his صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم house, and the Quresyh were gathered against him صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, would say loudly ‘بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ’ ‘In the Name of Allah عز وجل, the Beneficent, the Merciful’, and raise his صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم voice with it. The Qureysh would then flee. So Allah عز وجل Mighty and Majestic Revealed with regards to that: “[17:46] And We have placed coverings on their hearts and a heaviness in their ears lest they understand it, and when you mention your Lord alone in the Quran they turn their backs in aversion”.’
