Resemblance between Mu'alla' and I

469. Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr, from Al-Waleed Bin Sabeeh, who has narrated the following: I came up to Abu Abdullah عليه الصلاة والسلام one day, so he عليه الصلاة والسلام presented to me a piece of cloth and said: ‘O Waleed, fold this upon its corners’. So I stood up in front of him عليه الصلاة والسلام. Abu Abdullah عليه الصلاة والسلام said: ‘May Allah عز وجل have Mercy on Moalla Bin Khunays’. So I though he عليه الصلاة والسلام is comparing my standing in front of him عليه الصلاة والسلام with the way in which Moalla Bin Khuays may have stood in front of him عليه الصلاة والسلام. Then he عليه الصلاة والسلامsaid: ‘Ugh to the world! Ugh to the world! But rather, the world is a place of afflictions in which Allah عز وجل has Made His عز وجل enemies to overcome His عز وجل friends, but after it is a house which is not like this’. So I said, ‘May I be sacrificed for you, and where is that house?’ He عليه الصلاة والسلام said: ‘Over there!’ – and he عليه الصلاة والسلام pointed by his عليه الصلاة والسلام hand to the ground’.
