سعد بن عبداللّه عن يعقوب بن يزيد، عن الحسن بن محبوب، عن عليّ بن رئاب، عن أبي عبداللّه عليه السلام قال: صاحب هذا الأمر رجل لا يسمّيه باسمه إلّا كافر.
Saʿd b. ʿAbd Allāh from Yaʿqūb b. Yazīd, from al-Ḥasan b. Maḥbūb, from ʿAlī b. Riʾāb, from Abī ʿAbd Allāh (as), who said: “No-one mentions the Master of this Ordinance by his given name except a disbeliever.”
سعد بن عبداللّه، عن جعفر بن محمد بن مالك، عن عليّ بن الحسن بن فضال عن الرّيان بن الصلت، قال: سُئِلَ الرضا عليه السلام عن القائم عليه السلام فقال: لا يرى جسمه ولا يسمّى باسمه.
Saʿd b. ʿAbd Allāh, from Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad b. Mālik, from ʿAlī b. al-Ḥasan b. Faḍḍāl from al-Rayyān b. al-Ṣalt, who narrated: “Al-Riḍā (as) was asked about the Qāʾim (as), so he said: “He is not (to be) physically seen, nor mentioned by his given name.”
سعد بن عبداللّه، عن محمد بن عيسى بن عبيد، عن اسماعيل بن أبان، عن عمرو بن شمر، عن جابر بن يزيد الجعفي، قال: سمعت أبا جعفر عليه السلام يقول: سأل عمر أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام عن المهدي، فقال: يا ابن أبي طالب أخبرني عن المهدي ما اسمه؟ قال: أمّا إسمه فلا، إنّ حبيبي وخليلي عهد إليّ أن لا أحدّث باسمه حتى يبعثه الله عزّ وجل وهو ممّا استودع الله عزّ وجل رسوله في علمه.
Saʿd b. ʿAbd Allāh, from Muḥammad b. ʿĪsā b. ʿUbayd, from Ismāʿīl b. Abān, from ʿAmrū b. Shimr, from Jābir b. Yazīd al-Juʿfī, who said: “I heard Abā Jaʿfar (as) saying: “ʿUmar asked Amīr al-Muʾminīn (as) about the Mahdī, whereupon he (ʿUmar) said: “O’ son of Abī Ṭālib, inform me of the Mahdī. What is his name?” He replied: “As for his name, then no. My beloved and intimate friend has enjoined me to not narrate his name until Allāh (azwj) sends him forth, and it is part of what Allāh (azwj) has reserved in the knowledge of His Apostle.”
سعد بن عبداللّه، عن محمد بن أحمد العلوي، عن أبي هاشم الجعفري، قال: سمعت أبا الحسن العسكري عليه السلام، يقول: الخلف (من بعدي إبني الحسن) فكيف لكم بالخلف من بعد الخلف؟ قلت: ولِمَ؟ جعلني الله فداك. قال: لأنّكم لا ترون شخصه، ولا يحلّ لكم ذكره باسمه. قلت: فكيف نذكره؟ فقال: قولوا الحجّة من آل محمد صلوات الله عليه وسلامه.
Saʿd b. ʿAbd Allāh, from Muḥammad b. Aḥmad al-ʿAlawī, from Abī Hāshim al-Jaʿfarī, who narrated: “I heard Abā’l-Ḥasan al-ʿAskarī (as) saying: “The successor (after me, is my son al-Ḥasan), but how will you deal with the successor after the successor?” I said: “Why? May Allāh make me your sacrifice.” He stated: “Because you will not see his person, nor will it be allowable for you to mention him by his given name.” I followed up: “So, how are we to mention him?,” whereupon he replied: “Say “the Divine authority from the House of Muḥammad,” may Allāh’s salutations be upon him, and His peace.”
