People are similar to people and al-Nasnas

339. Ibn Mahboub, from Abdullah Bin Ghalib, from his father Saeed Bin Al-Musayyab who said: I heard Ali عليه الصلاة والسلام Bin Al-Husayn عليه الصلاة والسلام saying that: ‘A man went to Amir-ul-Momineen عليه الصلاة والسلام and said, ‘Inform me, if you عليه الصلاة والسلام are knowledgeable, about the people, and about those who resemble the people, and about the Nasnaas’. So Amir-ul-Momineen عليه الصلاة والسلام said: ‘O Husayn عليه الصلاة والسلام, answer the man’. So Al-Husayn عليه الصلاة والسلام said: ‘As for your word, ‘Inform me about the people’, so we عليه الصلاة والسلام are the people, and that is what Allah عز وجل Says in His عز وجل Book: “[2:199] Then hasten on from the Place from which the people hasten on”, so it is the Rasool Allah صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم so he صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم is the one صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم about whom people should come forward. And as for your word, ‘Resembling the people’, so they are our عليه الصلاة والسلام Shites, and they are our عليه الصلاة والسلام friends, and they are from us عليه الصلاة والسلام, and that is what Ibrahim عليه السلام said: “[14:36] then whoever follows me, he is surely of me, and whoever disobeys me”. And as for your words, ‘The Nasnaas’, so they are the vast majority’ – and he عليه الصلاة والسلام gestured by his عليه الصلاة والسلام hand towards a group of the people, then said: ‘[25:44] They are nothing but as cattle; nay, they are straying farther off from the path”.
