'Come to you fed up with fighting...

504. Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Abu Nasr, from Abaan, from Al-Fazl Abu Al-Abbas, who has narrated the following: Abu Abdullah عليه الصلاة والسلام regarding the Statement of Allah عز وجل: “[4:90] or who come to you, their hearts shrinking from fighting you or fighting their own people”, he عليه الصلاة والسلام said: ‘Revealed with regards to the Clan of Mudlaj because they had come to the Rasool Allah صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, so they said, ‘There are restrictions in our chests that we should testify that you صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم are the Rasool Allah صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, for we are neither with you صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم nor are we with our people against you صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم’. So I said, ‘How did the Rasool Allah صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم deal with them?’ He عليه الصلاة والسلام said; ‘He صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم said that he صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم would leave them until he صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم was free from dealing with the Arabs, then he صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم would call them (to Al-Islam), to see if they answered or else he صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم would fight against them’.
