Our teacher, Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan (may Allah سبحانه وتعالى be pleased with him), used to narrate that if the house was spacious and the owner could suffice with part of it, he should live in what he needs and sell the rest to repay his debt. Similarly, if he could live in a smaller house at a lower price, he should sell the larger house, buy a smaller one, and use the remaining amount to settle his debt.
