Chapter on the Legal Punishment for Slanderous Accusation

يَعْنِي لَوْ أَنَّ مَجْنُوناً قَذَفَ رَجُلاً لَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَيْهِ حَدٌّ وَ لَوْ قَذَفَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ لَهُ يَا زَانِ لَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَيْهِ حَدٌّ رَوَى ذَلِكَ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ عَنْ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ.

This means that if a mad person accuses a man of adultery, no legal punishment is imposed on him. Likewise, if someone accuses a mad person by saying to him, "O' adulterer," there is no legal punishment for it. This was narrated by Abu Ayyub from Fudayl ibn Yasar from Abu Abdullah .
