Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn Ahmad ibn al-Walid رضي الله عنه said: Muhammad ibn al-Hasan alSaffar said, on the authority of `Ali ibn Hassan al-Wasiti, on the authority of al-Hasan ibn Yunus, on the authority of `Abd al-Rahman ibn Kathir freed slave of Abu Ja`far that Abu `Abd Allah al-Sadiq عليه السلام was asked to interpret the Word of Allah, the Mighty and High: The nature made by Allah is which He has made men. He replied, “It is a natural predisposition to accept Divine Unity, that Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم is the Messenger of Allah, and that `Ali is the Commander of the Faithful عليه السلام.”
