Reward of Hajj and Umrah
Thawāb al-Aʿmāl wa ʿiqāb al-Aʿmāl|Volume 1|Book 2|Chapter 118
[حَدَّثَنِی حَمْزَهُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ره قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِی عَلِیُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِیمَ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ یَحْیَی وَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِیَهَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: لَمَّا أَفَاضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص تَلَقَّاهُ أَعْرَابِیٌّ فِی أَفْطَحَ فَقَالَ یَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّی خَرَجْتُ أُرِیدُ الْحَجَّ فَعَاقَنِی عَائِقٌ وَ أَنَا رَجُلٌ مَلِیٌّ کَثِیرُ الْمَالِ فَمُرْنِی مَا أَصْنَعُ فِی مَالِی مَا أَبْلُغُ مَا بَلَغَ الْحَاجُّ قَالَ فَالْتَفَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص إِلَی أَبِی قُبَیْسٍ فَقَالَ لَوْ أَنَّ أَبَا قُبَیْسٍ لَکَ زِنَهَ ذَهَبَهٍ حَمْرَاءَ أَنْفَقْتَهُ فِی سَبِیلِ اللَّهِ مَا بَلَغْتَ مَا بَلَغَ الْحَاجُّ.
8. [it was narrated to me by Hamzah b. Muhammad رحمه الله who said I was informed by Ali b. Ibrahim from his father from Safwan b. Yahya and Muhammad b. Abi ’Umayr from Muawiyah b. Ammar from Abi Abdillah عليه السلام who said: “O Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم! I have come to perform Hajj but I am not able to do so because of some problem. I have wealth; tell me something, which I can do and gain the reward of performing Hajj.” The Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم pointed at Mount Abu Qubais and replied, “If you have a quantity of red gold equal to Mount Abu Qubais and you spend it in the way of Allah then too you won’t get the reward of Hajj.”
