Punishment of homosexual relations

10. My father رحمه الله said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ahmad b. Muhammad from Ali b. al-Hakam from Ishaq b. Hareez who said: Once a woman came to the narrator to seek permission to meet Imam Ja’far Sadiq عليه السلام. The permission was granted and she came to meet the Imam عليه السلام. She asked Imam عليه السلام, “What is the punishment of a lesbian?” Imam عليه السلام replied, “The punishment is equal to that of a fornicator. The adulterers will be brought on the Day of Judgment wearing a dress of fire. Their shawl will be of fire. They will be pierced with the rods of fire from the stomach to their heads and they will be thrown into Hell. She will be told: O woman! This act was done by the community of Prophet Lut عليه السلام first when the males started involving themselves with other males and women being left alone became lesbians.”
