The Reward for the Ziyārah of Ĥusain عليه السلام on the Day of ‘Arafah

9. My father and all of my scholars narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā, and from Aḥmad ibn Idrīs, from ‘Amraki ibn ‘Ali, from Yaḥyā – the servant of Abī Ja’far the Second (Imam Jawād عليه السلام), from Muḥammad ibn Sinān, from Bashīr Al-Dahhān, who said: I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq عليه السلام) speaking in Ḥīrah to a group of Shia surrounding him. He turned his face toward me and asked, “O Bashīr! Did you go for Hajj last year?” I replied, “May I sacrifice myself for you! No, but instead I spent the Day of ‘Arafah next to the grave – referring to the grave of Ḥusain عليه السلام.” Imam عليه السلام said, “O Bashīr! I swear to Allāh that you did not miss anything (from the blessings) that were in Makkah for those who were there.” I said, “May I sacrifice myself for you! Explain this to me, for (the blessing of being in) ‘Arafāt is (only available) in Makkah.” Imam عليه السلام replied: O Bashīr! Verily every time one of you raises his foot or places it down walking toward the grave of Ḥusain عليه السلام while knowing his rights, after performing Ghusl on the shores of the Euphrates (River), Allāh will give you (the reward of) one hundred accepted Hajj and one hundred purified ‘Umrah and (the reward of) fighting in a hundred battles with one of Allāh’s messengers against His enemies and the enemies of His Messenger. O Bashīr! Listen (carefully) and inform (only) those whose hearts can handle this, “Those who go to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain عليه السلام on the Day of ‘Arafah are like those who go to the Ziyārah of Allāh on His Throne.”
