The Ziyārah of Ĥusain ibn ‘Ali عليه السلام and How It Should Be Performed

16. ‘Ali ibn Ḥusain narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Ḥasan ibn ‘Ali ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Mughīrah, from ‘Abbās ibn ‘Āmir, from Jābir Al-Makfūf, from Abil Sāmit, who said: I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq عليه السلام) say: Allāh will register one thousand good deeds and erase one thousand bad deeds for every step taken by those who go to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain عليه السلام on foot. He will also increase their rank one thousand times (for every step taken). Imam عليه السلام added: When you arrive at the Euphrates (River), perform Ghusl, carry your shoes, and walk barefoot like a humble slave. Once you arrive at the door of the Ḥā`ir, say "Allāhu Akbar" four times. Then establish prayers next to his grave and ask Allāh for your needs.
