Chapter on the Virtue of Charity
Man Lā Yaḥḍuruh al-Faqīh|Volume 2|Book 1|Chapter 20
وَ قَالَ اَلصَّادِقُ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ: «إِيَّاكُمْ وَ سُؤَالَ اَلنَّاسِ فَإِنَّهُ ذُلُّ اَلدُّنْيَا وَ فَقْرٌ تَتَعَجَّلُونَهُ وَ حِسَابٌ طَوِيلٌ يَوْمَ اَلْقِيَامَةِ ».
Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq عليه السلام said: "Beware of asking people [for help], for it is the humiliation of this world, a hastened form of poverty, and a prolonged reckoning on the Day of Judgment."
