Ali ibn Yaqtin asked Imam Abu Al-Hasan Al-Awwal عليه السلام about Zakat al-Fitr: "Is it permissible to give it to neighbors or close acquaintances who do not share the same beliefs or who do not acknowledge (the Imamate)?" Imam عليه السلام replied: "There is no harm in that if they are in need."
