Chapter on the Reasons Behind Hajj
Man Lā Yaḥḍuruh al-Faqīh|Volume 2|Book 3|Chapter 1
وَ إِنَّمَا هَدَمَتْ قُرَيْشٌ اَلْكَعْبَةَ لِأَنَّ اَلسَّيْلَ كَانَ يَأْتِيهِمْ مِنْ أَعْلَى مَكَّةَ فَيَدْخُلُهَا فَانْصَدَعَتْ ».
And it is narrated: "Indeed, Quraysh demolished the Kaaba because floods would come from the higher regions of Mecca, entering it and causing it to crack."
