Chapter on Virtues of Hajj
Man Lā Yaḥḍuruh al-Faqīh|Volume 2|Book 3|Chapter 2
وَ رُوِيَ: «أَنَّهُ مَا تَقَرَّبَ عَبْدٌ إِلَى اَللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ بِشَيْءٍ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ اَلْمَشْيِ إِلَى بَيْتِهِ اَلْحَرَامِ عَلَى اَلْقَدَمَيْنِ وَ إِنَّ اَلْحَجَّةَ اَلْوَاحِدَةَ تَعْدِلُ سَبْعِينَ حَجَّةً وَ مَنْ مَشَى عَنْ جَمَلِهِ كَتَبَ اَللَّهُ لَهُ ثَوَابَ مَا بَيْنَ مَشْيِهِ وَ رُكُوبِهِ وَ اَلْحَاجُّ إِذَا اِنْقَطَعَ شِسْعُ نَعْلِهِ كَتَبَ اَللَّهُ لَهُ ثَوَابَ مَا بَيْنَ مَشْيِهِ حَافِياً إِلَى مُتَنَعِّلٍ ».
It has been narrated: "No servant draws closer to Allah سبحانه وتعالى, Mighty and Majestic, with anything more beloved to Him than walking to His Sacred House on foot. A single Hajj performed in this manner equals seventy Hajj. And whoever alternates between walking and riding their camel, Allah سبحانه وتعالى records for them the reward of both their walking and their riding. If a pilgrim's sandal strap breaks, Allah سبحانه وتعالى records for them the reward for every step they take barefoot until they wear another sandal."
