Chapter on What Necessitates Discretionary Punishment, Legal Punishment, Stoning, Execution, and Exile in Adultery
وَ فِي رِوَايَةِ وَهْبِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ آبَائِهِ عَلَيْهِمُ اَلسَّلاَمُ: "أَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ أُتِيَ بِرَجُلٍ وَقَعَ عَلَى جَارِيَةِ اِمْرَأَتِهِ فَحَمَلَتْ فَقَالَ اَلرَّجُلُ وَهَبَتْهَا لِي وَ أَنْكَرَتِ اَلْمَرْأَةُ فَقَالَ "لَتَأْتِيَنِّي بِالشُّهُودِ أَوْ لَأَرْجُمَنَّكَ بِالْحِجَارَةِ" فَلَمَّا رَأَتِ اَلْمَرْأَةُ ذَلِكَ اِعْتَرَفَتْ فَجَلَدَهَا عَلِيٌّ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ اَلْحَدَّ".
In the narration of Wahb ibn Wahb from Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq عليه السلام from his father, Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir عليه السلام, from his forefathers (peace be upon them), it is reported that: Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib عليه السلام was brought a man who had intercourse with his wife's bondwoman, and she became pregnant. The man claimed: "She (the wife) gifted her to me," but the woman (wife) denied it. Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib عليه السلام said: "Either you bring me witnesses, or I will stone you with stones." When the woman saw this, she confessed, so Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib عليه السلام carried out the prescribed punishment (Hadd) on her.
