Al-Sakuni narrated from Abu Abdullah عليه السلام that he was asked about a man who bequeaths a share (sahm) of his wealth. Imam عليه السلام replied: "The share is one out of eight parts, based on the saying of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Mighty and Majestic: "Indeed, the charities are only for the poor, the needy, those employed to collect them, those whose hearts are to be reconciled, for freeing slaves, for those in debt, in the way of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, and for the stranded traveler." (Surah Al-Tawbah, 9:60)
