Al-Kāfi|Volume 4|Book 1|Chapter 34
2. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from al-Hassan ibn Mahbub from certain individuals of our people who has said the following: “I asked abu ‘Abd Allah عليه السلام, ‘What is the limit of generosity?’ The Imam replied, ‘It is to pay what Allah has made obligatory on you to pay to properly deserving recipients.’”
