The Merits of Shaʿbān

Jaʿfar b. ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn b. ʿAlī b. ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Mughīra al-Kūfī رضي الله عنه narrated to us, saying that his grandfather, al-Ḥusayn b. ʿAlī, narrated to him among others, from his grandfather, ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Mughīra, from Ismāʿīl b. Abī Ziyād, from al-Ṣādiq, Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad, from his father, from his forefathers عليهم السلام, who said that the Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وعلى آله has said: “Shaʿbān is my month, and the month of Ramaḍān is that of Allāh, and it is a springtime for the poor. ʿĪd al-Aḍḥā was only instituted so that you may feed your paupers with the choicest meats, so feed them thus.”
