The Merits of Shaʿbān

Faḍāʾil al-Ashhur al-Thalātha|Volume 1|Book 2|Chapter 1
ʿAlī b. Ibrāhīm narrated to us, from his father, from Muḥammad b. Abī ʿUmayr, from Ḥafṣ al-Bakhtarī, from Abī ʿAbd Allāh عليه السلام who said: “When it was imperative for the wives of the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وعلى آله to fast, they would postpone their doing so to the month of Shaʿbān out of aversion to preventing the Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وعلى آله from his needs. When it was Shaʿbān, they would fast, and he would fast with them.” The Imam concluded: “The Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وعلى آله used to say: “Shaʿbān is my month.”
