Faḍāʾil al-Ashhur al-Thalātha|Volume 1|Book 3|Chapter 1
Muḥammad b. Mūsā b. al-Mutawakkil رضي الله عنه narrated to us, saying that Muḥammad b. Abī ʿAbd Allāh al-Kūfī narrated to him among others, from Sahl b. Ziyād, from al-Ḥasan b. ʿAbbās b. Juraysh al-Rāzī, from Abī Jaʿfar (al-Thānī)—Muḥammad b. ʿAlī b. Mūsā b. Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad b. ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn b. ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib عليهم السلام—from his father, from his grandfather عليهم السلام—i.e., Abū Ibrāhīm al-Kāẓim—who reported that al-Ṣādiq عليه السلام said: “I heard my father saying: “There is not a servant (of Allah) who has read the chapter of ﴾Indeed, We sent it down﴿ a thousand times on Monday and a thousand times on Thursday except that Allāh تبارك وتعالى has created—because of this recitation—an angel called “al-ʿAwī,” whose reach is greater than the seven skies and seven earths. Upon the place of every atom of his body are a thousand hairs, and in each hair a thousand tongues. Every tongue speaks with the vigour of the tongues of the two heavyweights—humans and jinn—thereby seeking forgiveness for the one who recited the chapter, and the Lord تعالى forgives for two thousand years, a thousand times over.”
