Marriage with a Woman and ‘Umm Walad of Her Father

1- عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَتَزَوَّجُ الْمَرْأَةَ وَيَتَزَوَّجُ أُمَّ وَلَدِ أَبِيهَا فَقَالَ لا بَأْسَ بِذَلِكَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ بَلَغَنَا عَنْ أَبِيكَ أَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ الْحُسَيْنِ (عَلَيْهِما السَّلام) تَزَوَّجَ ابْنَةَ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ (عَلَيْهِما السَّلام) وَأُمَّ وَلَدِ الْحَسَنِ وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ رَجُلا مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا سَأَلَنِي أَنْ أَسْأَلَكَ عَنْهَا فَقَالَ لَيْسَ هَكَذَا إِنَّمَا تَزَوَّجَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ (عَلَيْهِما السَّلام) ابْنَةَ الْحَسَنِ وَأُمَّ وَلَدٍ لِعَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ الْمَقْتُولِ عِنْدَكُمْ فَكَتَبَ بِذَلِكَ إِلَى عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ فَعَابَ عَلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ (عَلَيْهِما السَّلام) فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ فِي ذَلِكَ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ الْجَوَابَ فَلَمَّا قَرَأَ الْكِتَابَ قَالَ إِنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ الْحُسَيْنِ (عَلَيْهِما السَّلام) يَضَعُ نَفْسَهُ وَإِنَّ اللهَ يَرْفَعُهُ.
1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr who has said the following: “I once asked al-Rida’ عليه السلام, about the case of a man who marries a woman then marries the mother of the child of her father. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful.’ I then asked, ‘It is narrated to us from your father عليه السلام, that Ali ibn al-Husayn عليه السلام, married, daughter of al-Hassan ibn Ali عليه السلام, and mother of the child of al-Hassan because a certain person of our people asked me to ask you about it. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not that way. Ali ibn al-Husayn عليه السلام, had married daughter of al-Hassan عليه السلام, and mother of the child of Ali ibn al-Husayn who was murdered with you. It was reported to ‘Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan who blamed Ali ibn al-Husayn عليه السلام, about it and Ali ibn al-Husayn عليه السلام, wrote to him the answer. After reading the letter he said, ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn lowers himself but Allah raises him up.’”
