Serving Food in Marriage Ceremony

1. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad and al-Husayn from Muhammad from Mu’alla’ ibn Muhammad all from al-Hassan ibn Ali al-Washsha’ who has said the following: “I once heard al-Rida’ عليه السلام, saying, ‘When al-Najashiy proposed marriage on behalf of the Messenger of Allah to Aminah daughter of abu Sufyan and pronounced them wife and husband, he called for food and said, ‘It is of the Sunnah of the prophets to serve food at the time of getting married.’”
