The Milk Products from Cows

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid, from Yahya ibn Ibrahim ibn abu al-Balad, from his father from his grandfather who has said the following: “I once complained before abu Ja‘far عليه السلام, about stomach trouble and he (the Imam) said, ‘What prevents you from drinking cow milk, have you ever drank it before?’ I replied, ‘Yes, many times.’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘How did you find it?’ I replied, ‘It tans the stomach, covers the kidneys with fat and increases one’s appetite for food.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘Had it been the right time, you and I could have gone to Yanba’ so we could drink milk.’”
