wa-huwa lladhī yatawaffākum bi-l-layli wa-yaʿlamu mā jaraḥtum bi-n-nahāri thumma yabʿathukum fīhi li-yuqḍā ʾajalun musamman thumma ʾilayhi marjiʿukum thumma yunabbiʾukum bi-mā kuntum taʿmalūna
It is He who takes your souls by night, and He knows what you do by day, then He reanimates you therein so that a specified term may be completed. Then to Him will be your return, whereat He will inform you concerning what you used to do.

Surah Al-‘An’am, Verse 60
60. "And He it is Who takes your souls at night (in sleep), and He knows what you commit in the day, then He raises you up therein that an appointed term may be accomplished, then unto Him is your return, then He will inform you of what you were doing."
By night, Allah takes activity out of your soul the same as He takes it by death. He is also aware of what you do during the day. During the night you sleep, and during the day you perform some activities. Then, Allah will raise you up from your graves so that He reckons you for what you spend your lives upon. It is so until the appointed time comes forth, when Allah has assigned for raising the dead from their graves and giving them the fruit of their deeds. This is the Hereafter.
Thus, your return is unto Him. That is, you will attend where you will be reckoned. On that Day, the Lord will inform you of the deeds you used to accomplish in the world, day and night. Some commentators have rendered this part of the verse into the sense that He awakens you from sleep during the day in order that you gain sufficient interest from your life. In this verse, Allah has resembled awakening people from sleep to raising them up. The verse says:
