Al-Imāma wa’l-Tabṣira min al-Ḥayra

سعد بن عبداللّه، قال: حدّثنا يعقوب بن يزيد، عن حمّاد بن عيسى عن عبداللّه بن مسكان، عن أبان بن تغلب، عن سليم بن قيس الهلالي، عن سلمان الفارسي رضي الله عنه، قال: دخلت على النبي صلّى الله عليه وآله وسلّم، فاذا الحسين بن عليّ على فخذه، وهو يقبّل عينيه ويلثم فاه، ويقول: أنت سيّد ابن سيّد، أنت إمام ابن إمام أبو أئمة، أنت حجّة الله ابن حجّته، وأبو حجج تسعة من صلبك، تاسعهم قائمهم.

Saʿd b. ʿAbd Allāh said: “Yaʿqūb b. Yazīd narrated to us, from Ḥammād b. ʿĪsā from ʿAbd Allāh b. Muskān, from Abān b. Taghlib, from Sulaym b. Qays al-Hilālī, from Salmān al-Fārisī (ra), who narrated: “I entered upon the Prophet (sws) while al-Ḥusayn was on his lap and he was kissing al-Ḥusayn’s eyes and mouth, saying: “You are a master and the son of a master, and you are an Imam and the son of an Imam, and the father of the Imams. You are the Divine authority of Allāh and the son of His Divine authority, and the father of nine Divine authorities originating from your loins, the ninth of whom is their Qāʾim.”

سعد بن عبداللّه، عن أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن عمر بن اُذينة، عن أبان بن أبي عيّاش، عن سليم بن قيس الهلالي، قال: سمعت عبداللّه بن جعفر الطيّار، يقول: كنّا عند معاوية والحسن والحسين عليهما السلام، وعبداللّه بن عبّاس، وعمر بن أبي سلمة، واُسامة بن زيد—فذكر حديثاً جرى بينه وبينه، أنّه قال لمعاوية بن أبي سفيان—: سمعت رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وآله، يقول: إنّي أولى بالمؤمنين من أنفسهم. ثمّ أخي علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام أولى بالمؤمنين من أنفسهم، فاذا استشهد، فابني الحسن أولى بالمؤمنين من أنفسهم، ثم إبني الحسين أولى بالمؤمنين من أنفسهم، فاذا استشهد، فابنه عليّ أولى بالمؤمنين من أنفسهم، وستدركه يا عليّ، ثمّ ابنه محمد بن عليّ أولى بالمؤمنين من أنفسهم، وستدركه يا حسين، ثمّ تكمله إثني عشر إماماً، تسعة من ولد الحسين. قال عبداللّه: ثمّ استشهدت الحسن والحسين صلوات الله عليهما، وعبداللّه بن عبّاس وعمر بن أبي سلمة واُسامة بن زيد، فشهدوا لي عند معاوية. قال سليم بن قيس: وقد كنت سمعت ذلك من سلمان وأبي ذرّ والمقداد واُسامة بن زيد، فحدّثوني أنهم سمعوا ذلك من رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وآله وسلّم.

Saʿd b. ʿAbd Allāh, from Aḥmad b. Muḥammad b. ʿĪsā, from Muḥammad b. Abī ʿUmayr, from ʿUmar b. Udhayna, from Abān b. Abī ʿAyyāsh, from Sulaym b. Qays al-Hilālī, who said: “I heard ʿAbd Allāh b. Jaʿfar al-Ṭayyār saying: “We were with Muʿāwiya, al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn (as-d), ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAbbās, ʿUmar b. Abī Salama, and Usāma b. Zayd,” whereupon he mentioned a discussion that occurred between him and Muʿāwiya b. Abī Sufyān, in which he said to Muʿāwiya: “I heard the Apostle of Allāh (sawa) saying: “Indeed, I am closer to the faithful than their own souls.[1] Then, my brother, ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib (as) is closer to the faithful than their own souls. So, when he is martyred, then my scion, al-Ḥasan, is closer to the faithful than their own souls. Then, my scion, al-Ḥusayn, is closer to the faithful than their own souls. So, when he is martyred, then his son, ʿAlī, is closer to the faithful than their own souls. You will come to know him, o’ ʿAlī! Then his son, Muḥammad b. ʿAlī, is closer to the faithful than their own souls. You will come to know him, o’ Ḥusayn!”[2] Then the succession is completed as twelve Imams, nine from among the offspring of al-Ḥusayn.” ʿAbd Allāh (b. Jaʿfar al-Ṭayyār) said: “I then called upon al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn (saa-d), ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAbbās, ʿUmar b. Abī Salama and Usāma b. Zayd to bear witness, so they bore witness for me, before Muʿāwiya.” Sulaym b. Qays said: “I heard that from Salmān, Abī Dharr, al-Miqdād and Usāma b. Zayd,[3] whereupon they narrated it to me that they heard it from the Apostle of Allāh (sws) himself.”

سعد، عن ابن أبي الخطّاب، عن محمد بن سنان، عن المفضّل بن عمر الجعفي، عن جابر الجعفي عن أبي جعفر، عن أبيه، عن جدّه عليهم السلام، قال: قال رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وآله لعلي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام: يا عليّ أنا وأنت وابناك الحسن والحسين، وتسعة من ولد الحسين أركان الدين ودعائم الاسلام، من تبعنا نجا، ومن تخلّف عنّا فالى النار.

Saʿd, from Ibn Abī’l-Khaṭṭāb, from Muḥammad b. Sinān, from al-Mufaḍḍal b. ʿUmar al-Juʿfī, from Jābir al-Juʿfī from Abī Jaʿfar, from his father, from his grandfather (as-p), who said: “The Apostle of Allāh (sawa) once said to ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib (as): “O’ ʿAlī! You and I, your two sons, al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn, and nine descendants of al-Ḥusayn are the cornerstones of the religion and the mainstays of Islam. Whoever follows us is saved, and whoever holds back from us is destined for the Fire.”

سعد، عن ابن عيسى، عن موسى بن القاسم البجلّي، عن جعفر بن محمد بن سماعة، عن عبداللّه بن مسكان، عن الحكم بن الصلت، عن أبي جعفر الباقر، عن آبائه عليهم السلام قال: قال رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وآله وسلّم: خذوا بحجزة هذا الأنزع يعني عليّاً—فانّه الصدّيق الأكبر، وهو الفاروق، يفرّق بين الحقّ والباطل، من أحبّه هداه الله ومن أبغضه أبغضه الله، ومن تخلّف عنه محقه الله، ومنه سبطا اُمّتي: الحسن والحسين، هما إبناي، ومن الحسين أئمة هداة، أعطاهم الله علمي وفهمي، فتولّوهم ولا تتّخذوا وليجة من دونهم، فيحلّ عليكم غضب من ربّكم ومن يحلل عليه غضب من ربّه فقد هوى، ﴿وَمَا ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَآ إِلَّا مَتَـٰعُ ٱلْغُرُورِ﴾.

Saʿd, from Ibn ʿĪsā, from Mūsā b. al-Qāsim al-Bajallī, from Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad b. Samāʿa, from ʿAbd Allāh b. Muskān, from al-Ḥakam b. al-Ṣalt, from Abī Jaʿfar al-Bāqir, from his forefathers (as-p), who narrate: “The Apostle of Allāh (sws) said: “Hold fast to the belt of this one whose hairline is receding,” referring to ʿAli—“for he is the greatest Truthful one, and the Distinguisher, who distinguishes between Truth and falsehood. Whoever loves him has been guided by Allāh, and Allāh hates whoever hates him. Whoever remains behind him will be obliterated by Allāh, and from him are the two grandsons of my community, al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn, my two scions, and from al-Ḥusayn are the guiding Imams. Allāh has granted them my knowledge and my understanding, so affirm them as the ones in charge and do not take anyone besides them as a confidant,[1] lest wrath from your Lord descend upon you. Upon whomever wrath from his Lord descends is truly lost, and ﴾the life of this world is nothing but the wares of delusion.﴿” [3:185]
