Al-‘Ayyashi, from Hamdawayh, from Muhammad ibn Al-Husayn, from Al-Hasan ibn Mahbub, from Sama‘ah, who said: I asked Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, about a man who is captured by the polytheists and the time for prayer comes upon him, but he fears that they will prevent him, so he gestures with signs (yumiʾu ima’an) in prayer. Imam عليه السلام said: "He should gesture with signs (yumiʾu ima’an) in prayer."

From him, he said: Hamdawayh narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Al-Husayn, from Al-Hasan ibn Mahbub, from Abu Ayyub, from Isma‘il ibn Jabir, who said: I heard Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, and a man asked Imam عليه السلام about a person who is overtaken by the time of prayer while he is wading through water and is unable to reach dry ground. Imam عليه السلام said: "If he is in battle or on a path of Allah سبحانه وتعالى cause, then let him gesture in prayer. But if he is engaged in trade, then it was not proper for him to wade into the water until he had prayed." I asked: “And what should he do?” Imam عليه السلام said: "He should make up the prayer when he comes out of the water, and he has indeed neglected it."

From him, from Hamdawayh, from Muhammad ibn Al-Husayn, from Al-Hasan ibn Mahbub, from Abd Al-‘Aziz, from Abdullah ibn Abi Ya‘fur, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said: I asked Imam عليه السلام about a man who stands for an obligatory prayer and prays one rak‘ah while intending it as a recommended (nafilah) prayer. Imam عليه السلام said: "It is according to what you stood up for and intended." And Imam عليه السلام said: "If you stand intending an obligatory prayer and doubt enters you afterward, then you are in the obligatory prayer based on the intention you stood with. But if you entered it intending a recommended prayer, and then afterward changed the intention to an obligatory prayer, then you are still in the recommended prayer. Only that part of the prayer is counted for the servant which he began with the original intention."

Al-Tatari, from Muhammad ibn Abi Hamzah, from Mu‘awiyah ibn ‘Ammar, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, said: I heard Imam عليه السلام say: "Do not perform the obligatory prayer inside the Ka‘bah, for the Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى bless him and his family, never entered it during Hajj or ‘Umrah, but He صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم entered it during the Conquest of Mecca and prayed two rak‘ahs inside it between the two pillars, and with Him صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم was Usamah."

From him, from Muhammad ibn Abi Hamzah, from Abdullah ibn Sinan, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him: A man asked Imam عليه السلام, saying: "I prayed ‘Asr on top of Abu Qubays (Mount which overlooks the Kaʿbah), does that suffice, while the Ka‘bah was lower (than) me?"
