The Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, said: "It is not permissible to pray in a garment that has been contaminated with wine, any intoxicating drink, or foqqa‘ (a mildly intoxicating barley drink), until it is purified by washing." A full explanation of this has already been given in the Book of Purity, in a way that leaves nothing further to be added, Allah سبحانه وتعالى willing. Then he said, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى have mercy on him: "Nor is it permissible to pray in a garment that has semen on it until it is washed; and the same ruling applies to all other impurities (najasat)."
