Chapter on What is Permissible to Pray in, from Clothing and Place, and What is Not Permissible to Pray in, from That

The Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, said: "It is not permissible for anyone to pray while wearing a tightly fastened cloak (qaba’) unless he is in a state of war and unable to loosen it, then it is permitted due to necessity." This was mentioned by Ali ibn Al-Husayn ibn Babawayh, and we heard it from the scholars in discussion, though I have not come across any supported narration on it. The Shaykh, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى have mercy on him also said: "It is not appropriate for a man who has hair to pray while it is tied up; rather, he should untie it before praying. However, this has been permitted for women."
