It is possible that the meaning of this narration is as we explained regarding the first report, that is, it refers to a specific case. It is also possible that what is meant is that He عليه السلام, peace be upon him, used to make up these nawafil when He عليه السلام had set out for travel after their time had already entered. This interpretation is also supported by the first report: the one whom the Imam عليه السلام instructed to make up the nawafil, He عليه السلام knew from his condition that he had departed after the time of the prayer had entered; and the one whom He عليه السلام instructed to leave them, He عليه السلام knew from his condition that he had departed after the time had passed.
