The Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, said: ‘The ‘qunut’ is a strongly emphasized sunnah that should not be abandoned when one has the choice. And whoever forgets it and does not perform it before bowing should make it up after the bowing. If he does not remember it until he bows in the third rak‘ah, then he should make it up after finishing the prayer.’
