Chapter on Making Up the Month of Ramadan, and the Ruling of One Who Breaks the Fast in It Intentionally and Forgetfully, and One upon Whom Fasting Two Consecutive Months Is Obligatory and He Breaks the Fast during Them, or upon Whom There Is a Vow Regarding Fasting

The Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى have mercy on him, said: “If he becomes ill before completing the first month by fasting, or after completing it before he has fasted anything from the second, and he breaks the fast because of illness, then in both cases he does not have to begin anew (istiqbal).” What indicates that is what he narrated (in the following hadith):
