On Various Traditions From Imam Ali Ibn Musa al-Ridha
28-37 (The author of the book narrated) my father - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Abdullah ibn Ja’far al-Himyari quoted on the authority of al-Ryan ibn al-Salt, “A group of people went to Khorasan to see Al-Ridha صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم. They told him صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, ‘Some of the members of your household do bad deeds. It would have been good if you had admonished them.” The Imam صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم said, “I will not do that.” They asked, “Why?” The Imam صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم said, “I heard my father say, ‘Advice is bitter.’”
