On Indications of the Divine Leadership of Ar-Ridha عليه السلام
35 - حَدَّثَنا أَحْمَدِ بْنِ زِيادِ بْنِ جَعْفَر الهَمْدانِيَّ رَضِىَاللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: حَدَّثَنا عَلِىِّ بْنِ إِبراهِيمِ بْنِ هاشِم عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى بْنِ عُبِيْد قالَ حَدَّثَني فيض بْنِ مالِكَ المدائني قالَ حَدَّثَنِي زروان الْمَدَائِنِيُّ بِأَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَسْأَلَهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِي فَوَضَعَهَا عَلَى صَدْرِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَذْكُرَ لَهُ شَيْئاً مِمَّا أَرَدْتُ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي: يَا مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ آدَمَ إِنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ لَمْ يَكُنْ إِمَاماً فَأَخْبَرَنِي بِمَا أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ.
47-35 Ahmad ibn Ziyad ibn Ja’far al-Hamadani - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Ali ibn Ibrahim ibn Hashem quoted on the authority of Muhammad ibn Isa ibn Obayd, on the authority of Faydh ibn Malik al-Mada’eni, on the authority of Zorwan al-Mada’eni, “I went to see Abil Hassan Ar-Ridha’ عليه السلام and wanted to ask him عليه السلام about Abdullah ibn Ja’far As-Sadiq عليه السلام. Before I could ask, Ar-Ridha’ عليه السلام took my hand, placed it on my heart and said, ‘O Muhammad ibn Adam! In fact, Abdullah is not the Divine Leader.’ Thus Ar-Ridha’ عليه السلام had answered my question before I could ask it.”
