Pride and Arrogance

5ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنِ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ أَتَى رَسُولَ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ الله أَنَا فُلانُ بْنُ فُلانٍ حَتَّى عَدَّ تِسْعَةً فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) أَمَا إِنَّكَ عَاشِرُهُمْ فِي النَّارِ.
5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfali from al-Sakuni from Abu ‘Abdillah عليه السلام who has said the following: “Once a man came to the Messenger of Allah and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, I am so and so son of so and so counting (boastfully) up to nine generations.’ The Messenger of Allah said, ‘You are the tenth of them in the fire.’”
