Reward of a fast in the month of Shaban
Thawāb al-Aʿmāl wa ʿiqāb al-Aʿmāl|Volume 1|Book 2|Chapter 129
وَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ سَعِیدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِی نَجْرَانَ عَنْ یُونُسَ بْنِ یَعْقُوبَ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنْ صَوْمِ شَعْبَانَ- هَلْ کَانَ أَحَدٌ مِنْ آبَائِکَ یَصُومُهُ فَقَالَ خَیْرُ آبَائِی رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص وَ أَکْثَرُ صِیَامِهِ فِی شَعْبَانَ.
11. And from the previous chain from al-Hussain b. Sa’eed from Abdulrahman b. Abi Najran from Yunis b. Ya’qub who said: The narrator asked Imam Ja’far Sadiq عليه السلام about the month of Shaban, “Did any of your ancestors observe fast in these days?” Imam عليه السلام replied, “My greatest ancestor the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم used to observe many fasts during Shaban.”
