Washing of the Deceased

The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم said in his last sermon: "Whoever repents a year before his death, Allah سبحانه وتعالى will accept his repentance." Then He صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم said: "A year is a long time; whoever repents a month before their death, Allah سبحانه وتعالى will accept their repentance." Then He صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم said: "A month is a long time; whoever repents a week before their death, Allah سبحانه وتعالى will accept their repentance." Then He صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم said: "A week is a long time; whoever repents a day before their death, Allah سبحانه وتعالى will accept their repentance." Then He صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم said: "A day is a long time; whoever repents an hour before their death, Allah سبحانه وتعالى will accept their repentance." Then He صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم said: “An hour is a long time; whoever repents before their soul reaches here" — and he pointed to his throat — "Allah سبحانه وتعالى will accept their repentance”.
