Chapter on the Etiquettes of the Fasting Person, What Invalidates the Fast, and What Does Not Invalidate it

The Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى (peace be upon him and his family) heard a woman insulting her servant while she was fasting. The Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى (peace be upon him and his family) called for food and said to her, "Eat." She replied: "I am fasting." He صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم said: "How can you be fasting when you have insulted your servant? Indeed, fasting is not merely abstaining from food and drink."
