Man Lā Yaḥḍuruh al-Faqīh|Volume 2|Book 2|Chapter 36
وَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ: عَنِ اَلْوِصَالِ فِي اَلصِّيَامِ وَ كَانَ يُوَاصِلُ فَقِيلَ لَهُ فِي ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ «إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدِكُمْ إِنِّي أَظَلُّ عِنْدَ رَبِّي فَيُطْعِمُنِي وَ يَسْقِينِي».
The Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) prohibited continuous fasting (without breaking the fast at night). However, He صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم himself practiced it. When He was asked about this, He صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم said: "I am not like one of you. I remain in the presence of my Lord عز وجل, and He provides me with food and drink."
