Ali ibn Muyassir wrote to Abu Ja'far al-Thani, Imam Muhammad al-Jawad عليه السلام, asking about a man who performed ‘Umrah in the Month of Ramadan and then attended the Hajj season. Should he perform Ifrad Hajj (individual Hajj) or Tamattu‘ (combining ‘Umrah and Hajj)? Which is better? Abu Ja‘far al-Thani عليه السلام wrote back: "He should perform Tamattu‘."
