Man Lā Yaḥḍuruh al-Faqīh|Volume 3|Book 1|Chapter 10
It is narrated from Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib عليه السلام that Imam عليه السلام said: The Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى (peace be upon him and his family) said: "If two men bring a case before you, do not judge in favor of the first until you hear from the other, for if you do so, the judgment will become clear to you." Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib عليه السلام said: "After that, I continued to serve as a judge." And the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) said to him: "O Allah سبحانه وتعالى, grant him understanding in judgment."
