Chapter on Oaths, Vows, and Expiations

Al-Sakuni narrated from Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq عليه السلام from his father, Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir عليه السلام, that Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib عليه السلام was asked about a man who vowed to walk to the House of Allah سبحانه وتعالى but encountered a river crossing along the way. Imam عليه السلام said: "Let him stand in the crossing until he passes it."
