Chapter on What Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Almighty, Has Made Permissible and Prohibited in Marriage
وَ رَوَى اَلْحَسَنُ بْنُ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ وَهْبٍ وَ غَيْرِهِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ اَلرَّجُلِ اَلْمُؤْمِنِ يَتَزَوَّجُ اَلْيَهُودِيَّةَ وَ اَلنَّصْرَانِيَّةَ فَقَالَ "إِذَا أَصَابَ اَلْمُسْلِمَةَ فَمَا يَصْنَعُ بِالْيَهُودِيَّةِ وَ اَلنَّصْرَانِيَّةِ " قُلْتُ يَكُونُ لَهُ فِيهَا اَلْهَوَى قَالَ "فَإِنْ فَعَلَ فَلْيَمْنَعْهَا مِنْ شُرْبِ اَلْخَمْرِ وَ أَكْلِ لَحْمِ اَلْخِنْزِيرِ وَ اِعْلَمْ أَنَّ عَلَيْهِ فِي دِينِهِ فِي تَزْوِيجِهِ إِيَّاهَا غَضَاضَةً".
And Al-Hasan ibn Mahbub narrated from Muawiyah ibn Wahb and others of our companions, from Abu Abdullah عليه السلام. He said: I asked Imam عليه السلام about a believing man marrying a Jewish or Christian woman. Imam عليه السلام replied: "If he has access to a Muslim woman, what need does he have for a Jewish or Christian woman?" I said: "He may have affection for her." Imam عليه السلام said: "If he does so, then he must prevent her from drinking wine and eating pork, and know that there is a deficiency in his religion for marrying her."
